In 2001, our family acquired the former Moselle house Selzer. At that time, however, it was only intended to serve as a temporary office for the Benninghoven company. When the building was no longer needed, the question arose of what to do with the former hotel. The idea: to become a hotel again. So the planning began and the project took shape. In 2006, the time had come, the Hotel Weisser Bär was opened with 15 individually furnished themed rooms, a restaurant and two event rooms.

Due to the high demand for more rooms and a wellness & spa, we expanded in 2008 with another 18 rooms and 800 m² wellness & spa. In 2009, the first restaurant extension to include the winter garden followed.

In the years that followed, further renovations and extensions took place, including the construction of our indoor pool, the conversion of a 100-year-old trailer into a hotel room for the park, the extension of some rooms with winter gardens and many other small details.

The younger generation has been in the starting blocks since spring 2021, and since then has been taking over the operative business bit by bit. And as is said, standing still means going backwards, the next major projects are already being planned. Stay tuned to see what is going to happen at the Hotel Weisser Bär in the near future.

Yours, Heidi Benninghoven, Maximiliane & Pierre Ruhstein
