When entrepreneurship meets zeitgeist

Why did Heidi Bieger and Dr. Rolf Benninghoven decide to acquire the insolvent Moselhaus Selzer in 2001 and to use it for an office building for the Benninghoven company? To open in 2006 exactly on this little spot on earth an individual 4-star hotel with 15 themed rooms, a suite, and a restaurant. The decor of the hotel emphasises elegance and understated luxury with aspects from all over the world.

The location with a direct view of the picturesque Moselle river seemed unique to the forward-thinking entrepreneur. Two years later, in 2008, an extension with 18 additional rooms and a wellness centre will be opened. Due to the hotel extension, the restaurant became quickly too small and was enlarged in 2009 after a renovation.

The management must have recognised that on the Moselle an individual upscale hotel with an exclusive wellness centre and a spa was missing. The spa area was extended, and with the opening of the jungle bath created a unique wellness experience landscape, which offers all-around wellness, vitality and beauty treatments on sun-drenched 1,000 m² area. And there will be no break for a long time, while the hotel is being constantly renovated and expanded. So you can always look forward to new innovations. One of them is the Bärenhöle (the Bear’s Den), a luxuriously equipped, over 100-year-old caravan that stands in the middle of the park of this 4-star hotel.
